About The Role

The Director Medical Services provides strategic and operational medical leadership to ensure delivery of secure, high‑quality healthcare across the site. Reporting to the Executive Director Medical Services, you will oversee clinical governance, medical workforce management, service planning and medical education while working closely with executive leaders, clinical teams and external partners. This influential leadership role supports the delivery of patient‑centred care, drives quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to the ongoing development of sustainable rural health services across the Limestone Coast.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic and operational medical leadership across the Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service.
- Oversee clinical governance, medical workforce management, service planning and medical education.
- Collaborate with executive leaders,



clinical teams and external partners to deliver patient‑centred care.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and enhance patient safety.
- Contribute to the sustainable development of rural health services across the Limestone Coast.

Qualifications

- Hold a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent) and specialist qualifications.
- Eligible for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical administration.
- Proven leadership experience managing medical workforce, clinical governance and operational service delivery.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship‑management skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and contemporary rural healthcare.
