Seeking a qualified Room Leader for our Junior Kindy Room

Balaclava Road Children's Centre is a long-established Childcare centre that has been an important part of the community for over 40 years. It is just one of Cairns & District Child Care Development Association Inc. centres, and we are currently seeking a Diploma-qualified person to join our team and lead the junior kindy room. We are a Community-based not-for-profit organisation, which means our children and educators come first. Successful applicants must have the following:

- Diploma, graduate diploma, or studying towards.

- Sound Knowledge of the NQS, QKLG, ECA Code of Ethics, QIP, SIP, and RAP.

- Passion for Early Childhood Education and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.





- Excellent Communication Skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

- First Aid Certification (including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training) and a valid Blue Card. High commitment to Child Safe Practices and completion of the National Child Safety Training.

- Current Blue Card and National crime history check.

- Required first aid qualifications include HLTAID012 CPR, HLTAID011 Basic First Aid, Emergency Asthma Management, and Anaphylaxis Management.

- A genuine interest in working with children and being a part of our team.

- Highly motivated and caring nature

- Available 5 days a week

The role

- Knowledge of the EYLF and NQS

- Follow the Education and Care Services Law, National Regulations and the centre policies and procedures

- Solid relationship-building skills with both children and families

- Develop a curriculum based on the EYLF with a clear understanding of the planning cycle and reflective practice

- Document each child’s learning journey to a high standard

- Prior experience and confidence in leading and mentoring your peers, or a willingness to be mentored in these skills

- Competency in applying child safe principles to all aspects of the role

- Ability to follow mandatory reporting processes

- Build strong relationships and connections with children and families
