PLC is a Uniting Church school catering for approximately 1000 day and boarding students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Teacher of Food Science and or Home Economics to join our team. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality education in food science, fostering students' understanding of nutrition, food safety, and food innovation. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of our students and promoting a passion for food science. Experience teaching textiles would also be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver engaging and innovative lesson plans that meet food science curriculum requirements
- Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration through differentiation.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in food science education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to co-curricula activities and events.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student performance and curriculum updates.





Qualifications and Experience:

- Appropriate teaching qualifications and eligibility for registration with TRBWA.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Food Science/Home Economics across all secondary years and ability to teach ATAR food science is highly advantageous.
- Robust knowledge of food science principles, nutrition, food safety and contemporary food related issues.
- Proven experience creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that support student wellbeing and achievement.
- High level interpersonal, student engagement and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Experience teaching textiles will be well regarded.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Strong proficiency in the use of contemporary digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
