Luma is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of Western Australian women since 1977, delivering integrated medical, allied health, mental health, FDV advocacy, health promotion and education across the Perth metropolitan area.​

Due to an uplift in funding, Luma is looking for a warm, organised, and client-focused Triage & Assessment Officer to be the first point of contact for people seeking Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) support. This role plays a critical part in ensuring clients are assessed, supported, and connected to the right services in a timely and compassionate way.

This role is fixed-term for 2 years with the possibility of permanent extension.

The successful applicant will be required to complete psychometric testing as part of the recruitment process.

Key responsibilities include:

- Client Intake & Support: Act as the first point of contact for FDV clients, providing empathetic and professional support via phone and in person. Conduct initial clinical assessments, triage, intake, and service allocation.

- Risk & Safety Planning: Perform risk assessments and develop brief safety plans with clients to address immediate risks.

- Referral & Service Coordination: Provide accurate information and clear referral pathways to internal and external services.

- Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate electronic client records in the practice management system. Prepare reports to support service delivery and improvement.

- Professional Development: Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development activities as required.

About you:

or successful completion of tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in counselling, psychology, social work, cultural studies, family studies, or related fields.

- Superior skills for showing warmth, empathy, and care with clients.

- Strong administration and diary management skills to provide support for a multidisciplinary team and to prepare comprehensive case notes.

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to culturally responsive practice, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and other marginalised communities.

- Understanding of Family and Domestic Violence and related community resources including knowledge of services available in the community with a demonstrated ability to support clients to access services, groups, information, and other supports to strengthen and support their journey.

- Ability to Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and actively support personal wellbeing in a high-demand environment.
