Director Cardiology – Northern Heart Centre
The Department of Health is seeking a Director to provide executive level leadership across the Northern Heart Centre. The role reports through Hospitals North and is accountable for strategic direction, clinical governance, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead clinical and administrative functions ensuring safe, high‑quality cardiac care.
- Drive service planning and development aligned with DHHS priorities.
- Build and sustain relationships with clinicians, executive colleagues, and primary care partners for integrated care pathways.
- Provide authoritative clinical governance oversight, including quality improvement, credentialing, and risk management.
Position Details
- Fixed‑term, part‑time day worker (up to 38 hours per fortnight) starting July for three years.
- Full‑time permanent Staff Specialist – Cardiology role also available for relocation candidates.
- Start date: as soon as possible.
Salary & Benefits
- Remuneration in line with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025: $222,789 – $319,701 per annum, pro rata.

Eligibility
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Cardiology.
- Specialist registration held, or
- Registered medical practitioner on the specialist pathway as IMG, or with recognised overseas specialist qualification.
