The Opportunity
Our client, a leading national law firm, is seeking an experienced Special Counsel to join its highly regarded Insurance & Corporate Risk practice in Brisbane.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior insurance litigator to take on a leadership role within a thriving practice, advising leading insurers and corporate clients on complex, high-value disputes. Working closely with respected partners, you will play a key role in managing sophisticated matters, strengthening client relationships, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

The Role
- Lead and manage complex defendant insurance litigation matters from inception through to resolution.
- Advise on a broad range of insurance matters, including personal injury (particularly abuse claims), public liability, property damage, policy interpretation, coverage disputes, workers' compensation appeals, and contractual insurance matters.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with insurer and corporate clients across a range of industries.
- Provide strategic, commercially focused legal advice on complex and sensitive claims.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers while fostering a team-oriented team environment.
- Play an active role in business development, client management, and the continued expansion of the practice.
Ideal Candidate
- 8+ years' post-admission experience in insurance litigation.
- Extensive experience acting in defendant personal injury matters, including complex and sensitive claims.
- Strong expertise in public liability, coverage, property damage, and general insurance litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex matters autonomously and build strong client relationships.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience within a legal practice.
- Commercially astute with excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
- A genuine desire to contribute to the strategic growth of a leading insurance practice.
