Coordinator Environmental Health and Event Approval
The Shire of Broome is seeking a motivated and experienced Coordinator to cover a 2‑year parental leave role, with potential for extension. The position is full‑time, based at the Administration Office, Monday – Friday, 7.45am – 4.30pm, with versatile work arrangements considered.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Environmental Health and Event Approval team, including two Environmental Health Officers, a Water Sampling Technical Officer, and an Administration Officer.
Ensure compliance with the Health Act 1911, Public Health Act 2016, Food Act 2008, Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995, Local Government Act 1995, Health Local Laws 2016, and other relevant legislation.
Provide advice on environmental health matters to staff, stakeholders and the public.
Engage daily with the public and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, productive services and positively influence community health.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of three years’ experience in a local government Environmental Health role.
Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health)
or an equivalent qualification approved by the Chief Health Officer under section 18 of the Public Health Act 2016.
Experience in health promotion, regulatory functions (events, trading licenses, mobile food vans), and mosquito management a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, can‑do attitude.

$108K to $124K annual base salary, depending on experience.
