Regenerate Talent is recruiting for a fast-growing renewable energy platform building one of Australia's largest battery storage pipelines.

We're looking for a Senior Project Engineer to provide hands‑on engineering support across the full asset lifecycle - from early feasibility and design, through construction and commissioning, and into operations and performance optimisation. You'll work closely with development, delivery, grid, asset management and commercial teams, carrying technical context and design intent across every phase of the project.

This is a rare opportunity to build deep, end-to-end engineering capability inside a growth‑stage platform and shape a repeatable delivery model across a multi‑gigawatt pipeline.

What You'll Do:

Development

- Input to feasibility studies, technology selection, and concept/preliminary design (layouts, single‑line diagrams, civil/electrical/connection scope)
- Support technical specifications, tender documentation and bid evaluation for EPC, BOP and equipment‑supply packages
- Support grid‑connection applications, NSP/AEMO data provision, GPS development and power‑system studies
- Contribute technical inputs to investment cases, budgets and technical due diligence
- Owner's engineering support - reviewing contractor design submissions, ITPs, method statements and as‑built documentation
- Site oversight of FAT/SAT and cold/hot commissioning hold points
- Defect and non‑conformance tracking through to close‑out
- Support staged energisation, switching/isolation planning, and verification of performance guarantees
- Support GPS compliance and hold‑point (R1/R2/R3) testing and model validation

Operations & Asset Performance

- Support technical handover to Asset Management and Operations
- Investigate and resolve defects, performance shortfalls and availability issues
- Analyse operating data (BESS, power conversion systems, power plant controller, SCADA) to identify performance and reliability trends
- Support connection‑agreement, metering, DUID, market and FCAS compliance




- Feed operational lessons back into design and specification standards

Standards, Grid & HSSE

- Help develop and maintain technical standards, design basis documents and templates
- Act as a consistent technical point of contact across project phases
- Champion HSSE, safety‑in‑design, and switching/isolation discipline
- Support NER, AEMO and connection‑agreement compliance

What You'll Bring:

- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical, Power Systems or a related engineering discipline
- 7-10 years' experience in project, design or commissioning engineering on utility‑scale electrical infrastructure (BESS, solar, wind, substations or generation), including HV works
- Experience spanning more than one project phase, with a demonstrated ability to carry technical context across phase boundaries
- Working knowledge of the NEM connection process, AEMO registration and GPS compliance under the NER
- Experience reviewing contractor design, specifications, ITPs and test documentation, and managing defects/close‑out with EPC and BOP contractors
- Sound understanding of BESS systems - power conversion systems, power plant controllers, SCADA, controls and software integration
- Strong commitment to electrical safety and HSSE, with relevant safety/switching competencies
- Willingness to travel to project sites across NEM states
- CPEng and/or NER registration, state‑based electrical licence or HV switching qualifications
- Experience with power‑system studies/model validation tools (PSS E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, PSS SINCAL)
- Direct BESS development, commissioning or operations experience, including GPS hold‑point testing
- Experience across multiple concurrent projects or a multi‑gigawatt pipeline, spanning both utility‑scale and distributed assets
