About the role
The Registered Nurse delivers person-centred care across health settings, assessing needs, planning and coordinating services, and providing direct care or case management. Accountable for quality outcomes, the Registered Nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to meet individual patient needs.
Key duties of the role
- Assess individual patient needs, and plan, implement and coordinate appropriate service delivery.
- Provide direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management.
- Plan and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies.
- Review the assessment and decisions of Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and students and supports less experienced registered nurses.
- Provide ward/team leader/coordination as required on a shift-by-shift basis.
Skills and Experience
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
- Knowledge and understanding of the role of the Registered General Nurse/Midwife within a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
