The Role
Are you an experienced radio producer or journalist who loves to create original and engaging content? Do you love talk-back radio? Would you like to live and work in one of the most exciting and beautiful regions in Australia?
ABC Gold Coast is looking for an experienced content maker to produce radio programs and work as a field Reporter.
The job requires you to work three days a week, including every Saturday morning producing the breakfast program. The other two days may include producing Breakfast, Mornings or Drive and will involve content gathering in the field and working on outside broadcasts.
The Job
- Under general direction of the Local Editor and in collaboration with colleagues, create content for multiple platforms to engage local, state and national audiences.
- Prepare and present distinct local content across all platforms than engages local audiences, including Q&A;, packages, scripts, interviews and breaking news.
- Provide in-studio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
- Generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.

About You
With accomplished program making skills and a proven ability to develop original and engaging radio and cross-platform content for target audiences, you will bring with you:
- A love for radio and creating compelling audio content.
- Accomplished editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement and decision making in a fast-paced news environment.

- A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
