We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Youth Worker to join the Western Sydney Migrant Resource Centre's Youth Services Team on a part‑time (4 days per week), fixed‑term maternity leave contract until mid‑June 2027 , with the possibility of extension.

Working within our Youth Program, you will support young people aged 12–24 through individual casework, group programs, workshops, community engagement activities and school‑based initiatives. Every day will provide the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping young people build confidence, develop life skills, strengthen their connections and successfully navigate education, employment and community life.

This role is classified as a Social and Community Services Employee under the SCHADS Award, starting Level 3.

Responsibilities

- Provide person‑centred casework and support to young people from culturally diverse backgrounds living with disability and, where appropriate, their families and carers.
- Deliver engaging workshops, group programs and community activities that build confidence, independence and life skills.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local services and community organisations to improve access to support and opportunities for participants.
- Liaise with young people, families and service providers to identify needs, provide referrals and coordinate appropriate supports.
- Promote the program through community engagement activities, events and digital platforms to increase awareness and participation.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, reports and program data in line with organisational and funding requirements.
- Monitor participant progress, evaluate program outcomes and contribute to continuous service improvement through feedback and reporting.
- Identify and respond appropriately to risks, ensuring the safety,

wellbeing and safeguarding of young people at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and students to deliver high‑quality services and achieve shared program goals.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings and community events to strengthen practice and support organisational initiatives.

About You

You will bring

- A relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Disability, Psychology or a related field; or equivalent experience in the community services or disability sector.
- Experience supporting young people, preferably from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to support young people living with disability and their families using person‑centred and strengths‑based approaches.
- Experience designing and facilitating workshops, group activities and community programs that engage and empower young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Robust organisational, administrative and time‑management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
- Well‑developed computer skills, including experience using client management systems and electronic databases.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A current NSW Working with Children Check, National Police Check (or willingness to obtain), and a current NSW Driver Licence.

It would be great if you also have

- Experience working in the youth, disability, mental health or settlement sector.
- Knowledge of local community services and referral pathways.
- Experience working with CALD communities.
- Ability to speak a community language.
- Experience supervising volunteers or students or coordinating community events and activities.
