Role type: Fixed Term for 5 years, Full Time (1.0 FTE)

Department/School: Department of Rural Health, Melbourne Medical School

Location: Shepparton, with operations across regional Victoria

Contract: Fixed Term 5 years, Full Time (1.0 FTE)

Salary: Level D/E attractive remuneration package negotiated commensurate with experience, plus 17% superannuation

Responsibilities

- Lead Indigenous health research, education and engagement to drive community-informed impact and research excellence.
- Strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.
- Build meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health services and organisations across regional Victoria.
- Lead impactful research programs, strengthen research capability, collaboration and funding success.
- Build and sustain meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations and health services.
- Contribute to teaching excellence, curriculum development and the development of future Indigenous health leaders.
- Support strategic planning, governance and the ongoing success of the Department of Rural Health.

Qualifications

- An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic leader with an established record of achievement in Indigenous health, research, education or community leadership.
- Demonstrated experience working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across academic, health,



community and government settings.
- Track record of leadership within complex organisations, recognised for fostering culturally safe, inclusive and high‑performing environments.
- Committed to advancing Indigenous knowledge, strengthening Indigenous leadership and improving health outcomes, with the capability to contribute strategically across research, education, engagement and institutional priorities.
