Job Description

Home Migration Services The Service Technician will undertake skilled technical and trade-level work involving the inspection, diagnosis, servicing, repair and commissioning of specialised machinery and equipment. The successful applicant will work both at Promethea’s workshop and at client sites, ensuring equipment is maintained in safe and reliable operating condition.

Task & responsibilities

- Inspect, test and diagnose faults in specialised machinery, equipment and associated systems.
- Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
- Dismantle equipment and replace, repair or adjust worn, damaged or defective components.
- Install, assemble, configure and commission new or refurbished equipment.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, specifications and wiring or component diagrams.
- Use diagnostic instruments, measuring devices, hand tools and power tools to identify and rectify faults.
- Test equipment following repairs to confirm safe operation, accuracy and performance.
- Calibrate, align and adjust mechanical, electrical and electronic components where required.




- Attend customer premises to investigate equipment failures and provide technical support.
- Prepare service reports documenting faults, repairs, parts used and recommended maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate stocks of tools, spare parts and service materials.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, technicians and management regarding technical and operational matters.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment and workshop areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, site procedures and Promethea’s quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance and practical assistance to junior employees where required.

Qualification & experience

- A relevant trade or technical qualification, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience servicing, maintaining or repairing specialised machinery or equipment.
- Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
- Experience reading technical drawings, manuals and equipment specifications.
- Competence using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment and diagnostic instruments.
- A current Australian driver licence or the ability to obtain one.
- The ability to travel to client sites and work independently when required.
