Clinical Nurse Specialist – Crisis Assessment Treatment Team (CATT)

We are a mental health crisis service that provides expert mental health care including triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.

Responsibilities

- Provide discipline‑specific clinical expertise and supportive advice across the broader community, including in‑reach to the ED as required.
- Deliver specialist assessment and screening tools to improve outcomes for patients presenting with mental health concerns and/or addiction‑related comorbidities.
- Provide treatment recommendations and specialist support to the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals and community organisations.
- Assist with clinical decision‑making and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care to facilitate a person‑centred and recovery‑focused approach.
- Provide support and psycho‑education as appropriate, involving consumers and their families in goal formulation and care plan development.

Qualifications

- Experience in mental health and clinical nursing directly applicable to mental health settings.
- Sound understanding of relevant statutory, departmental procedures and policies.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed care principles.
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualifications,



or completion of an accredited hospital‑based program leading to registration as a psychiatric nurse.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Desirable – extensive psychiatric nursing experience and/or credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or equivalent.
- Desirable – holds or is working towards relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Desirable – five or more years of post‑graduate clinical nursing experience.

Work Environment

Permanent part‑time, shift‑worker position (fully rotational), working 74 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Salary and Allowances

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata, based on Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023).

Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible.

Postgraduate allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
