About the role

The Ward Clerk plays a key role in supporting the Intensive Care Unit (MH ICU). You will be the first point of contact for consumers, families, visitors and staff, ensuring a safe, welcoming and professional environment.

This role provides essential clerical,administrativeand reception support to the nursing and multidisciplinary team, contributing to efficient unit operations and excellent patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide reception and customer service to consumers, families,visitorsand staff
- Manage telephone enquiries and coordinate communication within the unit
- Support nursing and clinical staff with administrative tasks
- Assistwith admissions,dischargesand transfers
- Uphold confidentiality,privacyand Eastern Health policies
- Participate in mandatory training, performancedevelopmentand continuous improvement activities

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

- High levelwritten and verbal communication skills
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Patient Management Systems
- Advanced telephone and clerical skills




- Strongorganisationand time‑management abilities
- Ability to provide professional, friendly customer service
- Interest in working in a patient‑centred Intensive Care environment
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in a healthcare and the acute setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previousexperience in a similar administrative role

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
