About Pacific Optics

Pacific Optics is a leading provider of consumer lifestyle, electronics and accessories products across Australia and New Zealand. We partner with major retailers, petrol and convenience outlets, and eCommerce platforms, delivering trend‑led products across consumer electronics, sunglasses, mobile and tech accessories, outdoor and leisure, lighting and personal care. Our culture is entrepreneurial, customer‑centric and results‑driven. We back our people, move fast, and we are building something special on the Gold Coast.

The Role

We are excited to partner with Pacific Optics to find a hands‑on Purchasing Officer to join our Merchandise and Marketing team in our Burleigh Heads office. In this role, you will take ownership of purchasing and inventory management across designated product categories including fishing, workwear, batteries and lighting. You will also provide broader category management support, contributing to product selection, new product development and go‑to‑market execution.

This is a commercially active role where your purchasing decisions have direct impact on category performance and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Raise, manage and track purchase orders across designated product categories, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and alignment with sales and inventory targets
- Conduct weekly stock‑on‑hand reviews, monitor lead times, track batch numbers and manage expiry dates to ensure stock rotation compliance and oldest‑stock‑first dispatch
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, negotiating costs and managing performance to ensure reliable supply and strong commercial outcomes
- Support end‑to‑end category management — contributing to product selection, NPD briefings and go‑to‑market planning in partnership with the broader Merchandise team
- Manage inventory health across categories including COGS tracking, stock forecasting, and identifying risks and opportunities within the product mix
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, design, operations and finance to ensure purchasing activity supports commercial and customer delivery goals

About You

Our Ideal Candidate Will Bring

- Ideally, 2 years' experience in a purchasing,

procurement or product management role; demonstrating having delivered two full ordering cycles
- Demonstrated experience managing products with expiry dates will be highly regarded — confectionery, snacks, drinks or similar — including stock rotation and lead time management (essential)
- FMCG, grocery, petrol and convenience or retail purchasing highly regarded; broader retail experience including store management with purchasing responsibility will also be considered
- Solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain from purchase order through to fulfilment, including local and overseas supplier management
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track detail and elevate issues proactively
- Confident communicator — team-oriented, cross‑functionally comfortable and willing to speak up when something isn't right
- Resilient under pressure with strong self‑awareness; comfortable working at pace in a dynamic, high‑growth environment

Why You'll Love It Here

- Entrepreneurial, fast‑paced team environment with genuine career growth potential
- Real category ownership with visible commercial impact from day one
- Hybrid working — one day per week from home
- Gold Coast lifestyle — Burleigh Heads office with a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously

Pacific Optics is committed to fostering a culture of integrity, inclusion and innovation. We value diversity and ensure equal opportunity in employment.
