A day in the life of an Aboriginal Employment Specialist
Our team mantra is People, Purpose, Passion. This is more than words, it is the way we work and operate as a team. Reporting to the Manager of Aboriginal Employment, you will play a key role in driving TAFE NSW's Aboriginal Employment Strategy and supporting the delivery of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Working across the People Group, you will partner with leaders, People & Culture teams, Talent Acquisition, and stakeholders across TAFE NSW to develop and implement workforce initiatives that increase the attraction, employment, retention, and career development of Aboriginal people.
You will provide expert advice on Aboriginal employment matters, lead strategic projects and initiatives, build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and organisations, and support Aboriginal employees throughout their employment journey. Every day is an opportunity to influence positive change and create a more culturally safe, inclusive, and representative workforce across TAFE NSW.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the broader People and Culture team, including partnering closely with our Talent Acquisition team. Ideally you will have previously worked in a role related to managing and/or supporting an Aboriginal Employment Strategy.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1977). Candidates selected for an interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
- Experience supporting Aboriginal employment initiatives and workforce strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships with Aboriginal communities and a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence positive employment outcomes.
- Experience in Recruitment based activities to support Identified and targeted roles

A talent pool, valid for 18 months, may be created for this position, and position(s) of the same classification that subsequently becomes vacant, may be filled via this recruitment.
