About the role
- Undertake the role of Civil designer, applying technical knowledge in water and wastewater planning and design, utilising design aids such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Navisworks.
- Produce designs, reports, specifications, and drawings to ensure that appropriate solutions have been developed and engineering judgements recorded.
- Assist with the preparation of quantity and cost estimates for project planning, development and construction phases.
- Collaborate with project teams, seeking and providing guidance from more experienced members.
- Mentor, support and provide internal guidance to less experienced team members.
- Provide supervision to less experienced staff members.
- Liaise with Project Managers and Project Technical Leads to keep informed of timing, costs and any other pertinent issues relating to assigned tasks.
- Maintain communication and develop ongoing contacts with clients as required.
- Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety and Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
- Minimise and control risk by commitment to the Stantec Quality,
Health and Safety programs and ensuring proactive use of our project management systems.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgement in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues.
- Work under general supervision.
- Assist with the recruitment of staff.
- Provide input to and manage the annual performance and career development goals for any direct reports.
- Manage day-to-day technical support activities.
To be successful for this role you'll need
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a TAFE qualification with significant relevant professional experience.
- Sound experience (10 years minimum) in multidisciplinary mechanical, civil and structural design drafting.
- Strong foundation of technical knowledge in the use of design software aids and drawing management software.
- Developing management skills.
- Well‑developed problem‑solving and negotiation skills to resolve queries.
- Highly adaptable and responsive with the ability to create unique solutions.
- Competent technical writing ability.
- Knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Navisworks.
- Understanding of Revit and Plant 3D is beneficial.
