The Specialist NICU and Paediatrics Pharmacist will provide pharmacy clinical services to the NICU, Paediatrics Unit and Paediatrics ED at Royal North Shore Hospital. The Paediatrics unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) provides inpatient facilities for infants, children & adolescents. They cater for all paediatric presentations including medical, surgical and child and youth mental health from 0 to 16 years of age. The Royal North Shore Hospital Neonatal Care Centre (RNSH NCC) is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The NCC has three distinct areas: Intensive care (ICU), High Dependency (HDU) and special care (SCU).

What You'll Be Doing

The Specialist NICU/Paediatric Pharmacist is responsible for providing high quality pharmaceutical services to the patients of RNSH admitted to NICU and Paediatric units. They also support the education and training of clinical pharmacists working in the NICU or Paediatric ward, reporting and liaising with Team leaders, Deputy Director of Pharmacy or Director of Pharmacy. The Specialist NICU/Paeds Pharmacist will ensure that high quality, safe, person-centred and cost-efficient service is provided.

- Provide high-quality clinical pharmaceutical services to paediatric patients in accordance with Pharmacy Care Plans and clinical protocols
- Participate in clinical pharmacy service provision including on-call and weekend rosters
- Assist in formulary management for paediatric related drugs and medication protocols for the treatment of paediatric patients
- Involvement in education of health professionals and consumers about medicines





Collaboration with Women's Children's & Family Health Service at RNSH in the ongoing management of paediatric patients at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Qualifications - External

- Must hold registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and three or more years experience in hospital pharmacy and can demonstrate competency in at least one of the essential competency criteria and 3 other competency criteria.
- Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
- Commitment to participation in career development and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the provision of Pharmacy services to consumers, carers and families requiring medication reconciliation, dispensing and dosing.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
- Proven ability to work independently and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the provision of advance clinical pharmacy services including advance level practice in Paediatrics and/or Neonatal care in a hospital setting.
