Role Title: Maternity – Assistant in Midwifery/Nursing Ward Night Shift. Role Type: Casual. Department and Location: Mater Maternity Team, The Mater Hospital, North Sydney. Salary: 28.19 – 30.94 AUD hourly + super.
This casual role supports Nursing and Midwifery staff in the delivery of basic care to mothers and newborns. You will report to the Registered Nurse/Midwife in the unit and integrate into the midwifery, nursing and multidisciplinary team. The position is largely located in the Well Baby Nursery overnight.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Nursing and Midwifery staff in the delivery of basic care to mothers and newborns.
- Assist with newborn care, including daily cares, observation, and supporting parents in their transition to parenthood.
- Work night duty and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
- Certificate 3 in Health Service Assistant and/or evidence of completion of the first year of a bachelor's degree in nursing or midwifery.
- Willingness to assist with care of the newborn, including daily cares, observation and parent support.
- Ability and flexibility to work night shifts.
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare or maternity setting is desirable but not essential.
