The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service delivers specialist mental health and alcohol and other drug care to communities across Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana regions. Our service is opening a current Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service at Rockhampton Hospital – a state‑of‑the‑art 32‑bed facility with high and low dependency units, therapy spaces, administrative support, an indoor garden and safety features that support wellbeing.

Responsibilities

- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for consumers in accordance with skilled standards.
- Deliver direct care to consumers with complex care needs, ensuring clinical care is evidence‑based and rights are upheld.
- Provide shift coordination and leadership to support high‑quality operations within the inpatient unit.
- Maintain current knowledge of practice standards and provide mentorship and training for colleagues and students.
- Contribute actively to interdisciplinary reviews of consumer care and foster constructive working relationships.

Qualifications





- Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through AHPRA.
- Strong commitment to identifying and implementing clinical evidence‑based skills that improve patient safety.
- Clear knowledge of relevant standards, clinical guidelines, and advanced clinical practice related to risk management.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
- Capability to work autonomously within a quality, safety, and risk framework to minimise clinical risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside proficiency in contemporary clinical information systems.

Vaccination Requirements

- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine‑preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.

What We Offer

- Total remuneration value of up to $127,861 per year.
- An hourly rate between $44.06 and $56.51 per hour.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
