About the Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate collections professional to join Mildura's Gallery & Heritage team as the Registrar & Collections Officer, managing and enhancing a diverse collection spanning visual arts, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural material, public art and social history. Working across collections management, exhibition delivery, research and community engagement, you will play a key role in preserving, documenting and making our cultural heritage accessible while contributing to exciting projects that help tell the story of our region.
What you will bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies, Collection Management, Curatorial Practice, Art History, Cultural Heritage, Conservation, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in a museum, gallery, archive or cultural heritage environment involving collection management, documentation, exhibitions or conservation practice.
- Experience in collection registration, cataloguing, documentation and collection management systems within a gallery, museum or cultural heritage environment.
- Knowledge of collection care, preventative conservation principles, artwork handling and exhibition installation practices.
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively.
- A passion for arts, culture and heritage,
combined with a proactive approach and commitment to professional standards and cultural protocols.
Salary and conditions
The position is classified within Band 5 of Council’s Current Enterprise Agreement commencing at $40.52 per hour plus statutory superannuation.
