Financial Accountant – 6 Month Contract
We are seeking an experienced and capable Financial Accountant to join a high performing team, based in Wangara on a 6-month contract, supporting the Head of Finance during a key period of transition and project activity.
This role has been created to provide dedicated support across financial accounting, reporting and finance improvement initiatives. It's an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working in a practical, solutions-focused environment.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play an important role in supporting the finance function across month-end, compliance, reporting and operational finance activities. You'll also contribute to project work aimed at improving controls, accuracy and overall finance processes.
The duties
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of journals
Completing general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial information
Managing daily cash reporting, bank reconciliations and payment processing activities
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support business performance and planning
Maintaining fixed asset records
Preparing monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST and PAYG
Assisting with statutory reporting,



audit preparation and broader compliance obligations
Providing support across day-to-day finance operations
Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls
Working on projects to improve reporting accuracy, strengthen controls and enhance finance processes
The person
To succeed in this role, you'll be a capable and commercially minded finance professional with a solid background in financial accounting and reporting. You'll hold a CA or CPA qualification and bring at least three years' experience in a similar accounting or finance role, with strong technical skills across month-end, reconciliations and financial reporting. Experienced in MYOB and Excel you will have the confidence to work across complex financial data, analysis and reporting requirements.
