Key Relationships

The Deputy Head of Preparatory School – Adventurous Learning is
responsible to the Head of Preparatory School and works closely with
the Preparatory School Leadership team, particularly the Deputy
Head of Preparatory School- Teaching & Learning. They will also work
closely with the Director of Teaching, Director of Learning, Head of
Student Experience and Global Understanding and the Preparatory
School Teaching staff.

Position Objective
The Deputy Head of Preparatory School – Adventurous Learning is responsible for coordinating innovative
and adventurous learning opportunities that enhance student engagement, capability development and
real-world learning experiences across the Prep School.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of School Logistics role:

- Coordinate adventurous learning experiences and special programs across the Prep School.

- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, tertiary institutions and relevant external

stakeholders to enhance teaching, learning and student outcomes.

- Lead and support STEM and innovation initiatives and opportunities for students

- Coordinate Prep School participation in co-curricular competitions, challenges and showcase

events





- Develop and oversee the Prep School Signature Experiences Program aligned to the Westminster

Capability Compass in conjunction with Director of Teaching

- Support authentic, hands-on and inquiry-based learning opportunities across year levels.

- Collaborate with staff to embed capability development through adventurous and experiential

learning in conjunction with HOSEGU

- Assist with camps, incursions, excursions and community events.

- Promote student engagement through creative, future-focused and real-world learning

experiences

- Coordinate logistics, communication and operational planning related to adventurous learning

programs

- Support staff in designing innovative and engaging learning opportunities

- Ensure appropriate risk management and organisational processes are followed for programs and

events

- Contribute to the ongoing development of innovative Prep School learning pathways and

experiences in conjunction with the Director of Learning

- Lead and manage specialist teaching staff, promoting high performance, collaboration and

continuous skilled growth.

- Lead the promotion and showcasing of the School's adventurous learning programs, fostering

community engagement, celebrating excellence and strengthening the profile of the School's

educational offerings.

Key Areas of Responsibility

- All teaching staff are expected to contribute to the Pastoral Care program and support the Uniting

Church ethos
- All teaching staff are expected to contribute to the co-curricular program of the School

- Other duties, as required by the Head of Preparatory School and Principal, commensurate with the

position.

Key selection criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- Relevant tertiary qualifications (a Master of Education or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in

a relevant field would be an advantage)
- Successful candidate must be working at a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher level





- Demonstrated experience in, or a strong commitment to, leading, modelling and implementing high-

quality curriculum programs within a Preparatory School setting.
- Demonstrated experience and an understanding of the social and emotional development of

students from Transition to Year 6
- An understanding of mental health and wellbeing needs in a Preparatory School

- Demonstrated experience as an effective leader of teachers

- Exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes

- All applicants must be eligible to work in Australia

• Teachers must have (or be eligible to obtain) current registration with Teachers Registration Board

of South Australia
• All staff must satisfy child protection screening and adhere to Westminster’s Child Safety and

Wellbeing policy which includes holding a current Working With Children Clearance
• All teaching staff must have completed current Provide First Aid training
• A 6-month probationary period applies to all teaching positions and positions of responsibility
