Casual Position

Ross Street Medical Centre is seeking a friendly, organised and professional Medical Receptionist to join our busy general practice on a casual basis.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is committed to providing exceptional customer service to patients and supporting our clinical team.

About the Role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. You will be responsible for delivering professional reception and administrative support while maintaining a welcoming and effective environment.

Hours of work will be on a casual basis, with flexibility to cover planned leave and periods of increased demand.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage appointment bookings and telephone enquiries.
- Process patient registrations and maintain accurate records.
- Perform Medicare and EFTPOS billing and receipting.
- Manage incoming correspondence, emails and referrals.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation.
- Assist with general administrative duties as required.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses and other practice staff.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should have:

- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Previous experience in an administrative role.




- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A professional, reliable and compassionate approach to patient care.

Desirable

- Previous experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting.
- Experience using Best Practice, MedicalDirector or similar medical practice software.
- Knowledge of Medicare billing and general practice procedures.
- Experience handling confidential patient information.
