We are seeking an experienced, practical and hardworking Housekeeping and Maintenance Attendant with approximately 3–5 years of experience in a large hotel, resort or internationally recognised accommodation property.

Experience gained in China, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates or another international hospitality market will be highly regarded.

This is a physically active and hands-on position. It is not primarily a supervisory or office-based role. The employee will personally clean guest rooms, prepare rooms for arrival, maintain public areas and complete basic repairs and preventative maintenance around the property.

Approximately 80–90% of the role will focus on housekeeping, property presentation, basic maintenance and repairs. Approximately 10–20% of the role will involve guest relations and, after appropriate training, assisting with guest check-ins and front-office duties.

Primary Duties

Housekeeping and Room Preparation — Approximately 60–70%

The employee will personally:

- Clean and service guest rooms to the required motel and hotel standards.
- Make beds and replace linen, towels and guest amenities.
- Clean bathrooms, showers, toilets, mirrors, floors and fixtures.
- Vacuum, mop, dust and sanitise guest rooms.
- Clean windows, doors, furniture, walls and room fittings.
- Remove rubbish and replace bins and bin liners.
- Check mattress protectors, pillow protectors and linen for cleanliness.
- Inspect rooms for hair, dust, stains, damage and missing items.
- Replenish toiletries, tea, coffee and other guest supplies.
- Prepare rooms for current guest arrivals.
- Complete stay-over room services.
- Clean reception areas, corridors, stairways and other public areas.
- Assist with laundry, linen sorting and linen storage.
- Maintain housekeeping trolleys, equipment and storage areas.
- Report lost property and follow the property’s lost-property procedures.
- Identify and report room damage or maintenance issues.
- Ensure rooms are clean, safe, fully functional and ready for sale.

This is a hands-on position, and the employee must be prepared to clean rooms every day as part of their normal duties.

Repairs and Maintenance — Approximately 20–30%

The employee will personally complete basic, non-licensed maintenance tasks, including:

- Conducting routine room and property inspections.
- Replacing light bulbs, batteries and small fittings.
- Completing minor painting and wall touch-ups.
- Repairing or adjusting curtains, blinds and curtain tracks.
- Tightening door handles, hinges, furniture and loose fittings.
- Assembling and moving furniture.
- Completing minor silicone and sealing work.
- Clearing simple blockages where no licensed plumbing work is required.
- Checking taps, toilets, showers and drains for leaks or faults.
- Checking air-conditioning units and reporting operational issues.
- Cleaning air-conditioning filters where appropriate.
- Checking televisions, remotes, lamps, kettles and room appliances.
- Assisting with grounds,



gardens and outdoor presentation.
- Cleaning car parks, walkways, pool areas and external common areas.
- Maintaining a record of identified faults and completed work.
- Reporting electrical, plumbing, fire-safety or structural issues requiring a licensed contractor.
- Meeting and assisting external tradespeople when required.
- Supporting preventative maintenance and asset-care programs.

The employee must not undertake electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, fire-safety or other work that legally requires an Australian trade licence.

Guest Relations and Front Office — Approximately 10–20%

After completing appropriate workplace training, the employee may progressively assist with:

- Welcoming guests on arrival.
- Providing basic information about the property and local area.
- Responding politely to guest enquiries and requests.
- Delivering towels, amenities or other items to guest rooms.
- Assisting guests with room-related concerns.
- Following up housekeeping and maintenance requests.
- Assisting with guest check-in and check-out.
- Confirming guest identification and booking information.
- Explaining property facilities, parking and access arrangements.
- Answering basic telephone enquiries.
- Assisting with reservation administration.
- Learning the property management system.
- Processing simple guest payments under supervision.
- Supporting after-hours or self-check-in procedures.
- Escalating complaints, payment issues or complex enquiries to management.

Guest-services duties will be introduced gradually after the employee demonstrates consistent performance in housekeeping and property maintenance.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential Requirements

- Approximately 3–5 years of practical housekeeping experience in a large hotel, resort, serviced apartment property or recognised international hospitality business.
- Experience personally cleaning and preparing guest rooms.
- Strong understanding of hotel cleanliness and room-presentation standards.
- Experience identifying room defects and maintenance issues.
- Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to lift linen, supplies, furniture and housekeeping equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties within required timeframes.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, honest and responsible work ethic.
- Basic spoken and written English.
- Willingness to learn Australian hospitality, workplace safety and customer-service standards.
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and rostered shifts where required.





Desirable Experience

- Previous experience with a recognised international hotel group.
- Basic handyman, building-maintenance or property-care experience.
- Experience in room inspections or hotel quality-control procedures.
- Experience using a hotel property management system.
- Experience assisting guests or working with front-office teams.
- A valid driver licence.
- First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, kneel and lift repeatedly.
- Push and pull housekeeping trolleys.
- Lift linen bags, supplies and light furniture safely.
- Work in guest rooms, bathrooms, laundries and outdoor areas.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Work in warm, humid or outdoor conditions when completing maintenance duties.

- Emergency and after-hours guest assistance.

The employee will be expected to:

- Personally perform housekeeping and maintenance duties.
- Consistently prepare clean and fully functional guest rooms.
- Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Complete allocated work within reasonable timeframes.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Communicate respectfully with guests, colleagues and contractors.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Protect guest privacy and company property.
- Progressively develop the skills required to assist with guest check-ins and basic front-office duties.
