About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Diploma in Children's Services to join Merindah Children's Centre, an Exceeding not-for profit 50 place Community Based Service, located in Wallsend, NSW. This is a full time position, 38 hours per week required 5 days per week that offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children during their critical early learning years. In this role, you will create engaging, nurturing learning environments that foster children's development across all developmental domains.
Your work will be integral to our commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education and care that supports each child's individual growth and wellbeing.
What you'll be doing
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities and experiences that align with the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards
- Observing, assessing and documenting children's learning, development and wellbeing to inform future planning and support individualised learning goals
- Creating safe, stimulating and inclusive room environments that encourage exploration, creativity and social interaction
- Supporting children's emotional, social, physical and cognitive development through responsive interactions and guidance
- Building positive relationships with children and families, and maintaining regular communication about progress and wellbeing
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistent practices and support across the service
- Implementing and maintaining health, safety and hygiene standards in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Participating in career development and contributing to continuous improvement of centre practices
- A commitment to follow and uphold the Child Safe Standards and paramountcy principles
What we're looking for
- A recognised Diploma in Children's Services qualification or equivalent
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW
- Knowledge of early childhood development and evidence-based teaching practices such as Slow Pedagogy and Inquiry Based Learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Patience, creativity and enthusiasm for working with a dynamic group of young children
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team whilst maintaining professional standards
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working in early childhood education and care settings is highly valued
- An educator with a strong vision for sustainable practices
