ABOUT THE ROLE To provide quality early childhood education and care in line with the National Quality Framework in programs that reflect the children and families of the service using inclusive practices that support families cultural, socioeconomic and individual situations. In fulfilling this purpose, the incumbent is required to be familiar with, support and act in accordance with the Parish Vision and Mission and the objectives of St Joseph’s Family Services as they relate to this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensure current knowledge and adherence to all Regulatory, National Quality Framework requirements, Parish and SJFS policies and procedures.
- Assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment for children and their families, ensuring daily routines support children’s wellbeing. Actively support the implementation of a play-based curriculum in accordance with an ongoing cycle of planning, documentation, reflection and evaluation that is underpinned by equity, inclusion and diversity and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Ensure the curriculum reflects the SJFS Vision & Mission,



Service Philosophy, the Early Years Learning Framework Principles and Best Practice.
- Assist with the development and extension of children’s knowledge, exploration of their environments and development across all domains.
- Be responsive to children’s needs; promote their abilities, strengths and interests.
- Assist to record evidence related to children’s participation within the curriculum and their progress towards achieving Learning Outcomes.
- Work as a member of a cooperative, team-oriented and professional team to maintain and continuously improve service standards
- Actively contributes to the development and maintenance of current administration records related to effective room operation, children’s enrolment/on-going attendance, health and wellbeing according to prescribed service procedures.
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues, management, Parish staff, community professionals and members of the public.

WHO YOU ARE The successful candidate will have relevant experience in an early childhood setting through study or work-based practicum or employment. They will have basic knowledge in education and care regulations and national quality frameworks, child development and play based curriculums.



They will have a passion for working with children and families and an ability to act as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviours and language. The role requires a commitment to ongoing development, an ability to prioritise work tasks, self-lead and work effectively within a diverse team. They will have sound written and oral communication skills and have the commitment to work in harmony with catholic values and principles.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Certificate III in Children’s Services (Early Childhood Education & Care) qualification from a recognised Training Provider
- National Criminal History Record Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current Child Protection Certificate (achieved within first 12 months for new entrants).
- Current approved First Aid Certificate including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma.
