The Position An exciting opportunity is available for an Unaccredited General Surgery Registrar to join one of Northern NSW's leading public health services.

This 12-month training position offers excellent exposure to contemporary General Surgery through rotations across two well-supported regional hospitals. Working alongside experienced Consultant Surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, you will further develop your operative, peri-operative and clinical decision-making skills while caring for a diverse surgical patient population.

The successful applicant will complete:

- 6 months at a modern tertiary referral hospital, gaining exposure to a broad range of surgical specialties.
- 6 months at a busy regional hospital, offering excellent hands-on operative experience and greater procedural exposure.
- Accommodation provided throughout the regional rotation.
- This role is ideal for doctors looking to strengthen their surgical portfolio, broaden their operative experience and prepare for future accredited General Surgery training.

Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing and managing General Surgery patients under consultant supervision.
- Participating in emergency and elective surgical services.
- Assisting in theatre while developing operative and procedural skills.
- Providing peri-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Participating in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings and clinical handovers.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
- Contributing to teaching, audit and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

Applicants should possess

- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Current General Registration, or eligibility for General Registration, with AHPRA
- Previous postgraduate surgical experience
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and ongoing professional development
