Position Details Department of Health – Hospitals & Primary Care.
Health Information
Services (HIS) team at Royal Hobart Hospital, South.
Award/Classification: Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award, General Stream, Band 2.
Salary: $68,854 to $73,947 pro rata per annum (plus 25% casual loading = $43.38 to $46.59 per hour) with 12% superannuation.
Employment type: Fixed‑term, casual.
Region: South.
Location: Royal Hobart Hospital.
The Team The Health Information
Services (HIS) team manages clinical documentation, medical transcription, and health records, ensuring timely, accurate preparation, scanning, and maintenance of digital medical records to support clinicians and external providers. The Role - Analyse, collate, and prepare all clinical and related internal and external documentation into the approved health record system in accordance with AS 2828 Health Records and Agency policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Methodically prepare and accurately enter data associated with patient information, including reviewing, scanning, uploading, and maintaining clinical documentation,
applying quality assurance processes and registering/updating patient demographics in a timely, confidential manner.
- Undertake administrative and clerical duties, including processing confidential patient health records, both digitised and paper‑based.
Qualifications and Experience - Demonstrated experience with information systems and Microsoft Office applications in a health environment.
- Experience in administrative functions and knowledge of policies, procedures, guidelines, and legislation relevant to a hospital setting.
- Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility, efficiency, and accuracy to maintain quality assurance standards. Details of Appointment Fixed‑term, casual, commencing as soon as possible for 12 months, with hours negotiated with the successful applicant.
