The Role
Seeking Mechanical Engineers with a background in mineral processing plant design who enjoy seeing projects through from concept to operation.
The role offers a unique blend of office-based engineering and hands-on site involvement .
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager you will provide site based mechanical engineering support during commissioning and plant start-up activities. Verify equipment installation and operation, trouble-shoot mechanical issues, coordinate with operations and construction teams, support performance testing, manage punch-list closure and facilitate the safe handover.
Following commissioning, you will return to a Perth-based engineering role supporting ongoing and future projects.
The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis. Initially starting off on site, FIFO Perth, 2/1 roster for a period of 3-6 months.
Brief Duties
Site
- Raise site queries where installation differs from design
- Identify design improvements or modifications required for operability and maintainability
- Coordinate field modifications with the engineering team
- Review and approve minor design changes within authority limits
- Manage punch-list closure activities
- Maintain commissioning records and test sheets
- Capture lessons learned for future projects
- Assist in development of as-built documentation
- Support handover to operations and maintenance teams
Office
- Deliver mechanical engineering design for mineral processing and/or materials handling projects
- Develop mechanical equipment specifications and data sheets
- Prepare calculations, reports and technical documentation
- Participate in feasibility studies, concept design and detailed engineering
- Review vendor documentation and technical submissions
- Coordinate with multi-discipline drafting teams
- Support procurement, construction and commissioning activitiesConduct site inspections and field engineering support as required
- Contribute to safety in design and risk review processes
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian and industry standards
- Support project delivery to budget and schedule requirements
Criteria
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years' experience in minerals processing, preferably with an engineering consultancy or project delivery environment
- Exposure to plant equipment and mechanical design
- Previous involvement in plant commissioning, start-up or operational support - Advantageous
- Ability to travel to site for commissioning assignments as required
- Good communication and teamwork skills
