A leading Australian accounting and advisory firm providing audit, tax, business advisory, and wealth management services to a diverse client base, including privately owned businesses, not-for-profits, and mid-market organisations.

This will be a 3-4 month long contract position with the opportunity to be extended or converted to perm.

Responsibilities

- Planned and delivered external audit engagements for a portfolio of financial services clients, including banking, insurance, wealth management and superannuation organisations, ensuring compliance with Australian Auditing Standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assessed financial reporting processes, internal controls and risk frameworks, identifying key audit risks and providing practical recommendations to strengthen governance and controls.
- Prepared and reviewed audit working papers, analysed complex financial data, and communicated findings and technical recommendations to senior stakeholders and client management.




- Collaborated with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality audits within tight reporting deadlines while mentoring junior team members and supporting client relationship management.

What you'll need to succeed:
- Previous external audit experience, with exposure to financial services clients (e.g. banking, insurance, wealth management or superannuation) highly regarded.
- Open to candidates currently in professional services, those who have moved into industry and are looking to return to external audit, as well as strong general external auditors with an interest in the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Australian Auditing Standards, and risk-based audit methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and build solid client relationships.
