Leading Hand – Poultry Farm

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join our poultry farm team. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supporting daily farm operations while leading a team to achieve production targets, maintain high animal welfare standards, and promote a safe and productive workplace.

The successful applicant will be a positive role model with strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, and will thrive in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Leading, supervising, and supporting a team of employees.
- Setting a positive example through professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with team members and management.
- Coordinating labour requirements and liaising with the Farm Manager regarding casual staffing needs.
- Ensuring team members are appropriately trained and competent in their assigned tasks.
- Receiving daily production instructions and allocating work to team members.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring safe work practices are followed at all times.
- Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and ensuring team members complete required animal welfare and food safety training.
- Monitoring equipment and identifying any operational issues during production.
- Collecting, analysing,



and communicating relevant workplace and production information.
- Undertaking any other duties relevant to the position.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, ideally within poultry or a similar agricultural or production environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and support a team.
- The ability to follow direction while working independently and making sound decisions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the confidence to respond effectively to day-to-day operational challenges.
- A robust commitment to workplace health and safety, with the ability to actively promote safe work practices.
- A genuine commitment to animal welfare and maintaining high biosecurity and food safety standards.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
