Gelganyem Group - Community Connection Officer

The Gelganyem Group (Gelganyem ) represents the Traditional Owners of the Barramundi dreaming (a land area running from Kununurra down to and including the Argyle diamond mine) and manages their interests under the Argyle Participation Agreement.

The Gelganyem Community Connections Program was established in 2021 as a way to connect Traditional Owners with existing services and support them with financial and social independence post-mining, including the delivery of programs funded by Gelganyem.

The main objective of the Community Connections Team is to support Traditional Owners to achieve their goals and to connect with exiting support services and resources within the community.

The Role

Gelganyem delivers programs for the benefit of Traditional Owners using income from the Gelganyem Trust. The programs aim to promote Traditional Owner engagement in sports, education, music, and the arts, whilst also supporting Traditional Owner access to training, employment, law and culture, and community development activities.

Reporting to the Gelganyem Trust Manager,



the CCO will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Trust and program delivery.

What You’ll Do

- Function as a primary point of contact for Gelganyem Traditional Owners and the Gelganyem Community Connections Program.
- Provide support to the Trust Manager as directed.
- Maintain data collection systems and ensure daily data entry is kept up to date.
- Promote the Gelganyem Community Connections Program to Traditional Owners.
- Deliver services in a timely, effective and effective manner.
- Liaise with service providers as required.

Requirements

- Current Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Applicants with experience working successfully with Aboriginal people will be highly regarded.
