Position Information
Lightning Ridge Central School has a multicultural enrolment of approximately 320 students, including 54% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has a vibrant, energetic and caring learning environment and excellent, well maintained facilities. There is a strong and supportive staff, including a school executive who work across the whole school K-12. The school is focused on the needs of students and has established supportive community links. Current school priorities include explicit instruction, welfare and engagement. All staff develop and provide an appropriate, quality, differentiated curriculum. Lightning Ridge Central School is included in the Rural & Remote Strategy, is an 8 point school and as such attracts additional incentives, including a 90% rental subsidy. Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Technology Mandatory and Food Technology. Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Hospitality - Commercial Cookery and Hospitality - Food and Beverage providing the qualification entry benchmark is met.
- Demonstrated capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and deliver differentiated teaching programs that support student growth and maintain high expectations for all learners.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the capacity to contribute collaboratively within the Technology and Applied Sciences (TAS) faculty and across whole school programs.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Until the outcome of any such determination is confirmed, your salary offer will remain at Step 1 then be updated at a later date (typically a 1–2 week processing time post receipt of the form).
