About The Role

PTS Group is looking for a Leading Hand Civil Tradesman (Concreter, Plumber, Carpenter) to join and guide our crew on pipeline and civil infrastructure projects across regional NSW. We work on water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, drainage, earthworks, and general civil construction for councils, utilities, and government clients.

This is a hands-on leadership and construction role. You will lead a small, tight crew on project sites that are often remote or out of town, so you must be comfortable travelling, staying away from home on roster, and coordinating works efficiently on-site.

We offer a structured pay and classification system (Band 1 through Band 7) so you know exactly where you sit, what you're getting paid, and what you need to do to move up.

What You'll Be Doing

- Trade-Specific Leadership: Utilizing your background as a Concreter, Plumber, or Carpenter to provide hands-on technical expertise, guide quality craftsmanship, and mentor crew members across structural, drainage, formwork, and pipeline tasks.

- Crew Supervision: Leading day-to-day site operations, coordinating team members, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

- Pipeline & Drainage Works: Overseeing or assisting with pipe laying and jointing (PVC, PE, DICL), including poly welding (butt and electrofusion), trenching, bedding, backfill, and drainage installation.

- Concrete & Structural Works: Managing or executing concrete pours, formwork setup, reinforcement, finishing, and compaction.

- Plant & Equipment Operation: Operating plant and equipment including excavators, trucks, and ancillary gear as required in office.

- Site Management & Compliance: Handling site establishment, material logistics, and ensuring full compliance with SWMS, ITPs, and project documentation requirements.

We're hiring across multiple bands so whether you're starting out or you've been doing this for years, we want to hear from you.

At a minimum you'll need a White Card and a Class C licence. Beyond that, the more tickets and experience you bring, the higher the band and rate you'll start on. HR, HC, excavator VOCs, traffic control, poly welding tickets — all count.

More than tickets though, we're after people who are reliable and turn up every day ready to work, productive without needing to be chased, good in a crew and willing to help out wherever needed, comfortable working remotely on project sites away from home, and honest about what they can and can't do.

We don't want people who stand around waiting to be told what to do. If you finish a task, find the next one. If you see something that needs doing, do it. That's the standard.
