About the role

We are seeking an experienced Truck Driver & Yardman to join the team at The Hardware Store, a leading timber and hardware supplier to the residential building sector. This is a full-time position based in Sydney CBD, Inner West & Eastern Suburbs, NSW. You will be a key member of our logistics operation, responsible for both driving and yard management duties for our Timber & Hardware store. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth and effective movement of goods throughout our distribution network and maintaining our high service standards to customers.

Key responsibilities

- Operate and maintain medium-sized commercial vehicles (MR licence) to transport timber and hardware products safely and efficiently

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure all vehicles are in roadworthy condition

- Navigate delivery routes across Sydney CBD, Inner West and Eastern Suburbs whilst adhering to traffic regulations and safety protocols

- Load and unload timber and hardware merchandise from vehicles, ensuring proper stacking and securing of goods

- Manage yard operations including helping organising stock placement, maintaining yard cleanliness and ensuring safe working practices

- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance and yard activities

- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues during deliveries and collections

- Follow all workplace health and safety regulations and company policies

- Assist with general warehouse duties as required

What we're looking for

- Current and valid MR (Medium Rigid) truck driving licence, mandatory for this position

- Proven experience as a truck driver within the timber, hardware or similar logistics/distribution sector

- Demonstrated experience in yardman duties and warehouse operations





- Strong knowledge of vehicle safety checks and maintenance requirements

- Excellent time management and organisational skills to prioritise multiple tasks

- Physical fitness and capability to perform manual handling and lifting duties regularly

- A clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interactions

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Familiarity with warehouse management systems or similar software is advantageous

- Relevant qualifications in forklift operation (desirable)
