Directors will lead the development and implementation of a range of activities in policy design, program management or delivering on the government's priorities to support vulnerable families and children.

Successful candidates will need highly developed capabilities in strategic thinking, leadership, written and interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and be able to work with stakeholders at a variety of levels, including departmental executive and peak advocacy organisations.

The key duties of the position include:
lead teams that provide expert advice to the Minister and departmental executive on program and policy development relating to children, families and communities
drive strategic policy and system reform, including stakeholder engagement, evidence-based approaches, and a robust focus on prevention, early intervention, and outcomes for families and communities
use policy expertise and insights from targeted programs to identify prospects to promote stronger and more resilient families, children, individuals and families




identify opportunities and oversee the delivery of policies and programs that meet government priorities, achieve outcomes and facilitate stakeholder cooperation, including financial management, performance, and continuous improvement of service delivery models and funded initiatives
build a culture which promotes expert knowledge in relevant areas and provide advice and technical expertise to guide project and program activities
anticipate and identify policy issues, undertake research and analysis, and recommend solutions to policy questions.
