About the Role

As a Junior Health Economist at Diabetes Australia, you will build economic evidence that shapes policy decisions, funding submissions and advocacy efforts. You will work closely with our Health Economist and engage with clinicians, researchers, government and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Build and refine health economic models, including cost‑effectiveness, cost‑utility, budget impact and cost‑benefit analyses.
Analyse large Australian health and population datasets using tools such as R, Excel, SPSS, STATA.
Measure and monitor the prevalence and impact of diabetes, including complication rates, hospitalisations and costs.
Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights that influence decision‑making.
Contribute to key initiatives such as the Economic Impact of Diabetes project.
Support policy, advocacy and research projects with robust economic analysis.
Support programs delivered by Diabetes Australia through comprehensive economic evaluations.
Collaborate across teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills




Tertiary qualification in public health, economics or statistics.
Robust technical economic analysis skills, including cost‑effectiveness and cost‑benefit methods.
Knowledge of the Australian health system and health policy, with an interest in chronic conditions and prevention.
Experience in statistical analysis and working with large datasets.
Proficiency in Excel and statistical software such as R, SPSS, STATA.
Excellent communication skills, able to engage a range of stakeholders.
Robust organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Genuine passion for improving health outcomes for Australians.
