Our services include Youth Programs promoting social and emotional wellbeing, the Bibimbiya Jan-Ga Buru Women and Children's Healing Place, Indigenous men's behaviour change programs addressing family and domestic violence, men's health and wellbeing services, drop-in support, and programs supporting young men to re-engage with education, culture and community.
About the Role:
Family Outreach Services (under MOSAC Youth Services) is seeking aFemale Peer Educatorto join theAlive & Kicking Goals!
program — a well-established youth suicide prevention and social and emotional wellbeing initiative across the Kimberley.
This Broome-based role includes regular day trips and overnight travel throughout the region.
Due to the cultural and gender-specific nature of the program, this is a female-identified role.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Mentor young people, supporting them to set and achieve their goals while acting as a positive role model for Kimberley youth.
Engage with young people experiencing life challenges and advocate on their behalf.
Contribute to community consultation processes and deliver holistic education on social and emotional wellbeing, suicide prevention, and alcohol and other drugs (AOD).
Collaborate with health and education professionals, government and non-government agencies,



Aboriginal groups, and local communities to support the development and delivery of culturally appropriate AOD treatment, prevention, and education programs.
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and team meetings as required.
Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion initiatives, including resource development aimed at reducing AOD-related harm.
Support local community groups in responding to alcohol and other drug-related issues.
Undertake other duties, professional development, and training as directed by the line manager.
About you (Selection Criteria)
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Ability to work with young Indigenous people and within community groups.
Experience in facilitating workshops and health promotion or confidence to learn.
High level interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, ability and willingness to use a computer, and basic skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage one's own mental wellbeing.
Availability to work in Kimberley communities and other work-related travel.
Applicants must hold:
Working with Children Check
Ability to provide a National Police Clearance
A current WA "C" Class driver's licence

What we offer
$96,903 – $102,000 per annum (pro rata)
5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading
