Project Manager - Women in Trades $100K - $110K + super + vehicle
About The Role
PEER is seeking a dynamic and motivated Project Manager – Women in Trades to lead the implementation of initiatives that support women entering trade-based careers through pre-vocational training pathways at PEER.
The Big Sister: Advanced Mentoring project is the first project the successful candidate will lead within PEER.
This project involves targeted awareness events, promotion of pre-vocational courses for women into electrical and clean energy-related trades and mentoring new apprentices.
This is a hands-on role that blends project management, community engagement, industry collaboration, and direct participant support.
You will work closely with accredited training provider PEER, supporting women into vocational training, apprenticeships, and sustainable trade careers.
A Day in the Life of This Role
No two days are the same.
Your work may include:
Delivering school presentations, career talks, and vocational counselling sessionsCoordinating and attending try-a-trade events and industry engagement activitiesPlanning and delivering community and industry eventsParticipating in internal project meetings and stakeholder engagementSupporting marketing, communications, and promotion of Women in Trades programsMentoring female electrical apprenticesRecruiting women into pre-apprenticeship and vocational training programsManaging project reporting, compliance, and data trackingBuilding and maintaining relationships with schools, community organisations, and industry partners
About The Big Sister Program
The Big Sister: Advanced Mentoring Program promotes pre-apprenticeship pathways into electrical and clean energy trades with PEER as the registered training organisation partner in SA.
The program provides:




Accredited Cert II Electrotechnology training via PEERStructured mentoring and apprenticeship supportConfidence-building and employability developmentExposure to electrical and clean energy career pathwaysTransition support into electrical apprenticeships
While the Project Manager – Women in Trades role initially leads The Big Sister Program within PEER, it will expand over time to include additional Women in Trades or other important industry initiatives, strengthening pathways into a broader range of trade careers and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead end-to-end delivery of Women in Trades programs and initiativesOversee planning, delivery, and evaluation of program activitiesEnsure compliance with funding, reporting, and governance requirements
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
Build and maintain solid relationships with schools, community organisations, and industry partnersRepresent PEER at events, expos, and engagement activities
Participant Engagement & Support
Support recruitment into pre-apprenticeship and vocational training pathwaysMentor and support women entering trade courses and careersContribute to improved retention and apprenticeship transition outcomes
Program Development & Promotion
Contribute to marketing, communications, and promotional activitySupport growth and visibility of Women in Trades initiativesIdentify opportunities for program improvement and expansion
Reporting & Compliance
Maintain accurate participant data and recordsPrepare project reporting and funding deliverablesEnsure compliance with organisational and funding requirements
Selection Criteria
Essential
Trades qualification or demonstrated trade experience (including on-site trade experience)Strong understanding of trade environments, workplace safety, and compliance requirementsExperience or knowledge in vocational training,



apprenticeships or workforce development environmentsAbility to confidently engage with industry, schools, and community stakeholders
Desirable
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtainExperience in mentoring, coaching, or supporting learners in a professional or educational capacityWillingness and ability to travel regionally as required
