About the role
As a Recovery Practitioner within the Women's Early Intervention Service (WEIS), you will provide trauma-informed, client-centred case management and support to women who are in contact with the criminal justice system.
Referrals come through Court Link, the Brisbane Watch House, and the Brisbane Central and Brisbane South Probation and Parole offices.
In this role, you will work closely with women to assess their needs, develop individual support plans, and connect them with appropriate community services.
A key focus of the position is helping women secure safe and stable housing while navigating the challenges associated with involvement in the justice system.
You will act as a strong advocate and service navigator, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clients receive timely access to housing, health, mental health, alcohol and other drug, and other support services.
Working within Anglicare Southern Queensland's values and practice framework, you will empower women to achieve positive outcomes and build greater independence.
This is apermanent, part time (0.8 FTE)position based at ourWomen's Housing and Homelessness Servicesoffice inToowong, QLD.
The contract is until June ****.
The successful candidate must be available to work on Wednesdays and Fridays, as these are compulsory working days.
Responsibilities




Provide individualised, trauma-informed case management and support to women referred through Court Link, Probation and Parole, and the Brisbane Watch House
Develop, implement and review case plans in collaboration with women to support goal setting and recovery-focused outcomes
Work collaboratively with the dedicated Court Link worker and Probation and Parole officers within a shared case management framework
Build and maintain strong partnerships with Housing Service Centres and housing providers to support rapid rehousing and prevent remand escalation
Support women to access and sustain safe, stable, and affordable housing, including advocacy for tenancy sustainment in the private rental market
Conduct ongoing risk and safety assessments, and support access to domestic and family violence, sexual violence, and crisis support services
Assist women to comply with Probation and Parole orders by identifying risks and implementing strategies to reduce likelihood of non-compliance
Provide practical support and service navigation, including transport and linkage to health, mental health, AOD, and community services
Support safe and appropriate connections with children, family, and significant others, including liaison with Child Safety where required.
Qualifications, Credentials and Requirements
Current Blue Card




Current Queensland Driver Licence
Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field, and/or equivalent practical experience in the public and community housing sector and related service systems including criminal justice, health, mental health and drug and alcohol
Experience with case management and assessment of adults - especially women who have a history with the criminal justice system
Knowledge of the public and community housing sector
Understanding and application of Trauma Informed practice and Recovery Oriented practice
Note:This role is embedded within a specialist women and families homelessness program and works primarily with vulnerable women impacted by homelessness, trauma, and domestic and family violence.
Demonstrated experience working within women-only or gender-responsive services and supporting vulnerable women is highly desirable.
