Job Description
This Opportunity
The Team Leader Families and Children provides operational leadership, practice oversight and workforce support across Accordwest's Families and Children services.
These programs support children, parents, caregivers and families to strengthen relationships, build parenting capacity, enhance child wellbeing, and navigate life's challenges in safe, healthy and positive ways.
Working with families experiencing a range of social, emotional and practical challenges, the service delivers strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support that promotes resilience, connection and long-term positive outcomes.
Working closely with the Manager, the Team Leader ensures services are delivered to a high standard and remain person-centred,



evidence-informed and aligned with funding and legislative requirements.
The role coordinates daily service delivery, supports effective case management practice, and provides supervision, mentoring and leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
Through collaboration, continuous improvement and solid community partnerships, the Team Leader helps create positive outcomes for children, families and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight across a range of community-based and specialist Families and Children services.
Oversee case management practice, ensuring services are strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and aligned with best practice.
Support risk assessment, safety planning, mandatory reporting, critical incident management and safeguarding practices.
Promote positive outcomes for children, parents, caregivers and families through effective service coordination and practice leadership.
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with community organisations, government agencies, schools, First Nations communities and other key stakeholders.
Contribute to service planning, program development, continuous quality improvement and innovation initiatives.
Monitor service performance, data collection, reporting requirements and achievement of contractual targets and outcomes.




Participate in the Duty Manager roster and provide operational support to out-of-hours service delivery as required.
Support community engagement initiatives that enhance awareness of services and strengthen connections with children, families and communities.
Represent Accordwest at community forums, sector networks, interagency meetings and stakeholder engagement activities.
Desired Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or similar OR experience in a related service field.
Clinical experience in family support, counselling, therapeutic intervention or related fields.
Demonstrated high‐level clinical and case management skills.
Proven experience leading teams in a community services environment.
Demonstrated understanding of attachment, family systems and child development frameworks.
Experience working with vulnerable children, families and individuals experiencing complex needs.
Experience supporting parents to build skills, confidence and capacity.
Current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Departmentof Justice Clearances, and a valid Driver's Licence.
Experience delivering family counselling and relationship-based interventions.
Experience working within justice, corrective services or other complex service environments will be highly regarded.
Eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA), PACFA, ACA or other relevant professional body.
Experience delivering trauma‐informed practice.
Experience working with vulnerable children, families and individuals experiencing complex needs.
