Newman Catholic College, co-located on James Cook University site, Smithfield, is Cairns Catholic Education's newest college, joining a system of 29 other catholic schools and colleges. Opened in ****, with approximately 140 Year 7 students and growing a year level each year until Year 12 is reached in ****, its location on and interaction with the University presents endless opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. About the Role
The RE Support Officer is a non-teaching officer who works collaboratively with the Leader of Liturgy, Spirituality and Faith Formation and the College Principal. As a practicing catechist, the incumbent serves as a visible witness to the Gospel, enriching the Catholic identity of the college, assisting with classroom RE lesson resources, and actively supporting the spiritual and social wellbeing for both RE staff and students within RE classes.




The RE Support Officer will develop a sense of connection to the mission imperative of our Diocese. This position plays an important role in promoting the mission and core values of the Catholic Church and its agencies, through engaging with young people within our Newman Catholic Community and Northern Beaches Parish.
The RE Support Officer's work is underpinned by key Diocesan and Church documents. They are to promote effective strategies for engaging young people.
The RE Support Officer connects students with various youth ministries within the local and Diocesan church.
