Many of the right building blocks already exist — this role is about connecting, consolidating and strengthening them into a fit-for-purpose, 13-section intranet-based WHS Management System.You'll work alongside an internal working group spanning People & Culture, Risk & Compliance, and Strategy & Risk, in a hands‐on, delivery‐focused role for someone who knows how to turn a WHS framework into something people actually use.What You'll DoBuild out Avant's WHSMS intranet structure, turning review recommendations into a functional, accessible systemDevelop and finalise policies, procedures, registers, checklists and templatesIntegrate WHSMS documentation with Avant's incoming GRC platform, including registers, corrective action trackers and audit schedulesSupport the design of hazard identification and risk assessment, operational controls, incident investigation, and internal audit processesContribute to WHS governance architecture — responsibility and authority matrix, officer due diligence framework, Board/Executive reportingDevelop and maintain the WHS Legal Register across NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA and ACTPartner with People & Culture, Facilities,
Learning & Development and business leaders to keep content grounded in operational realityHelp design and deliver WHS training and communications to embed the new systemWhat You'll Bring5+ years in a WHS role, with proven experience building or uplifting management systemsStrong working knowledge of AS/NZS ISO *****:**** and how to apply it without formal certificationMulti‐jurisdictional WHS/OHS knowledge, including the Model WHS Act and Victoria's OHS legislationExperience writing WHS documentation in a professional services, financial services or similarly office‐based settingExperience with psychosocial risk management and current best‐practice frameworksExcellent written communication — documentation that works for a non‐WHS audienceConfidence managing multiple workstreams in a complex, stakeholder‐rich environmentNice to have:Experience in or alongside an APRA-regulated organisationFamiliarity with GRC platforms (e.g. Protecht or similar)Track record communicating WHS system change to senior leadersExposure to officer due diligence frameworks under the Model WHS ActWhy AvantYou'll shape a national WHS system from the ground up, in a genuinely inclusive, member‐owned organisation that backs the people who support Australia's doctors.
