Site Technician – Mining (Hydraulic Hose & Fittings) – FIFO/DIDO

Due to continued growth across Western Australia’s mining sector, we are seeking an experienced Site Technician to support our key mining customers throughout Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields region. This position is available as either a residential role based in Kalgoorlie or a FIFO or DIDO role from Perth.

About the Role

This is a hands‑on technical role where you will become the trusted hydraulic hose specialist for our mining customers. You will provide on‑site technical support, deliver customer training, maintain hydraulic crimping equipment, manage site inventory, and identify opportunities to improve customer operations through Alfagomma’s premium products and services.

Working closely with mine maintenance teams, planners, supervisors, and our internal sales team, you will play a key role in ensuring customers receive exceptional technical support while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

Provide on‑site technical support for hydraulic hoses, fittings, and fluid handling systems.
Diagnose hydraulic hose failures and recommend practical, cost‑effective solutions.
Ensure all hose assemblies comply with Australian Standards, customer specifications, and mine site requirements.

Assist customers with hose selection, installation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.

Customer Training

Deliver practical, hands‑on training to maintenance personnel on hose selection, assembly, installation, inspection, and crimping techniques.
Promote industry best practices to improve safety and equipment reliability.

Conduct regular site visits to strengthen customer relationships and provide ongoing technical support.





Crimper Service & Maintenance

Install, commission, calibrate, and maintain hydraulic crimping machines.
Perform preventative maintenance and fault‑finding on crimping equipment.
Repair crimpers where required to minimise customer downtime.

Maintain accurate service records and recommend equipment upgrades where appropriate.

Inventory Management

Conduct regular stock‑takes and inventory audits at customer sites.
Maintain hose stores to ensure stock accuracy and availability.
Forecast inventory requirements and liaise with branch personnel to maintain appropriate stock levels.

Identify opportunities to improve inventory management processes.

Solution Selling & Business Development

Identify opportunities to introduce additional Alfagomma products and services.
Provide technical support to the sales team during customer visits and product evaluations.

Assist in developing value‑added solutions that improve customer productivity and reduce downtime.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong working relationships with maintenance personnel, supervisors, planners, and procurement teams.
Respond promptly to customer enquiries and technical issues.

Deliver outstanding customer service that reflects Alfagomma’s commitment to quality and reliability.

Safety & Compliance

Comply with all mine site safety requirements, company policies, and WHS legislation.
Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Take 5s, risk assessments, and other required safety documentation.
Always work safely and actively promote a positive safety culture.

Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Proven experience within the hydraulic hose and fittings industry.
Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic hose assemblies, fittings, adaptors, and fluid conveyance systems.
Experience servicing mining equipment or heavy mobile plant.
Demonstrated experience operating, servicing,



and maintaining hydraulic crimping machines.
Experience delivering customer or operator training.
Inventory management, stock control, or hose store management experience.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence.
Ability to obtain and maintain mine site inductions and medical clearances.

Ability to work independently in remote mining environments.

Desirable

High Risk Work Licence (Forklift).
Certificate III in Engineering, Mechanical Trade, Hydraulics, or a related discipline.
Previous experience working in a FIFO environment.

Knowledge of mining maintenance systems and shutdown environments.

Physical Fitness Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires regular manual handling of hydraulic hoses, fittings, tooling, and crimping equipment.
Applicants must be physically capable of safely lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving equipment weighing up to 20–25 kg, working in varying weather conditions, and performing manual tasks in active mining environments.
