General Medicine Registrar | Tertiary Referral Centre | RACP Training Site | NT The Opportunity
We are currently speaking with General Medicine Registrars and Basic Physician Trainees interested in training within the principal tertiary referral hospital for the Northern Territory.
This service manages a complex and diverse inpatient workload across a vast regional and remote catchment. Registrars gain exposure to high-acuity acute medicine, chronic disease complexity and culturally diverse patient populations within a structured consultant-led environment.
This position is well suited to BPTs seeking substantial tertiary experience and international doctors pursuing RACP training or substantially comparable pathways.
The Hospital
This is the major tertiary referral centre for the Northern Territory, delivering secondary and tertiary services across a large geographic region.
The General Medicine service provides:
- Acute inpatient General Medicine at tertiary scale
- ICU support on site
- Strong Emergency Department interface
- Subspecialty collaboration (Cardiology, Renal, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology and more)
- Regional and remote referral coordination
- Structured registrar supervision

Requirements
- AHPRA registration (or eligibility)
- RACP Basic Physician Trainee or registrar-level General Medicine experience
- Minimum 12 months recent hospital-based General Medicine experience
- UK or IRELAND competent authority pathway candidates with minimum of 2 years Gen Med experience
- International Medical Graduates assessed by RACP as partially or substantially comparable, or preparing to lodge assessment
