Ecosystem Health Branch provides the framework for efficient and effective management of invasive species including plant diseases, weeds and pest animals to help conserve natural values on lands managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' (DBCA) Parks and Wildlife Service. The branch is responsible for the coordination of the Western Shield program, Cane Toad Strategy and Vegetation Health Service diagnostic laboratory as well as providing policy support for the implementation of the Forest Management Plan.

We are currently seeking Western Shield Predator Monitoring Team Leader North and Western Shield Predator Monitoring Team Leader South to join our team.

Under the guidance of the Western Shield Predator Coordinators,

- Coordinates the planning, supervision and field work associated with the Western Shield Monitoring Plan and the Feral Cat Strategy.
- Provides support in planning monitoring activities and advice on the revision of the monitoring schedule.
- Coordinates the collation of data under the guidance of the Western Shield Ecologist
- Assist with interpretation and communication including reporting of data and information collected through the team’s activities.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating and leading multi-personnel field-based wildlife monitoring teams in remote areas.
2. Demonstrated experience in animal handling and processing under field conditions, and training staff in appropriate monitoring and handling techniques to meet animal welfare requirements.
3. Demonstrated ability to think critically, organise and prioritise issues and ability to modify an approach to meet welfare principles considering staff OH & S under time pressure situations.
4. Demonstrated ability to supervise staff that aligns with the Departmental Code of Conduct.
5. Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication to the meet the expectations of the audience.
