Chair and members for the World Heritage Advisory Committee for the Murujuga Cultural Landscape World Heritage Area

Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) invites Expressions of Interest for the positions of Chair and members of the Murujuga Cultural Landscape World Heritage Advisory Committee (MCLWHAC). The Advisory Committee operates within, and supports the implementation of, the Murujuga World Heritage Strategic Management Framework and does not displace the cultural authority of Ngarda-Ngarli or the statutory functions of MAC, WA State Government or other agencies. The advisory committee shall provide advice to the MAC Chair, State and Commonwealth Government Ministers to ensure that Australia continues to meet its obligations under the World Heritage Convention to protect, conserve and present the Murujuga Cultural Landscape.

The advisory committee members are appointed by the MAC Chair, following an assessment process undertaken by MAC, the State Government and the Australian Government.





The Chair is appointed jointly by the MAC Chair, the Western Australian Minister for the Workplace and the Commonwealth Minister responsible for Heritage.

MAC is seeking Expressions of Interest for one independent chair and five members with expertise according to each of the following criteria:

- One member being a Ngarda-Ngarli representative with expert knowledge in cultural Lore

- One member being a suitably qualified person with expert knowledge in cultural landscapes

- One member being a suitably qualified person with expert knowledge in the impact of emissions on rock art

- One member being a suitably qualified person with expert knowledge in biodiversity

- One member with expertise in tourism.

Experience working with Australian Aboriginal communities is preferred.
