Live-In Residential Support Worker Couple
Disability, Aged Care and Boarding Programs

Far North Queensland | Two full-time positions | Accommodation and utilities provided

This is a joint appointment for two applicants

Aminjarrinja Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation is seeking two experienced and compatible support workers to join our team as a live-in residential support couple.

This opportunity requires two people who are ready to live and work together, share residential responsibilities and provide reliable, culturally safe support across our respite, aged care, disability and boarding programs.

You may apply as:

- A couple.

- Partners.

- Friends.

- Relatives.

- An established two-person residential care or working team.

You do not need to be married or in a personal relationship. You must, however, be able to demonstrate that you can live and work together professionally as a coordinated residential support team.

Only joint applications will be shortlisted

Both applicants must submit one joint application and must individually satisfy the mandatory qualification and clearance requirements.

Applications from individual applicants will not be shortlisted.

About the opportunity

This is not a standard disability support position.

The successful applicants will jointly operate a live-in respite residence in Far North Queensland, supporting Aboriginal adults and Elders who travel from remote communities for planned respite.

The role also includes regular support to AEAC’s boarding and education programs.

Between respite cohorts, you may assist with:

- Boarding-house relief.

- Residential supervision.

- Student travel.

- Airport transfers.

- Holiday transitions.

- Student escorts.

- Property preparation.

- Support during Boarding House Parent leave.

One week you may be helping an Elder enjoy a secure and meaningful respite experience. The next, you may be supporting students to travel safely between Groote Eylandt and their boarding residence in Queensland.

The work is varied, hands-on and genuinely meaningful.

What you will do together

- Operate a safe and welcoming residential respite service.

- Provide disability and aged care support.

- Assist with personal care and daily living.

- Prepare meals and manage household routines.

- Support community access and activities.

- Maintain participant records and incident documentation.

- Manage household shopping, stock and property preparation.

- Undertake participant and student transport.

- Provide airport transfers and student escorts.

- Provide relief support within AEAC boarding houses.

- Maintain safe residential staffing coverage.

- Work respectfully with Aboriginal families, students, adults and Elders.

- Travel throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory when required.

What each applicant must hold

- Certificate III in Individual Support covering both Ageing and Disability.

- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

- National Police Check.

- Queensland Blue Card.

- NT Ochre Card.

- Current First Aid and CPR.

- Current driver licence.

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate.

- Australian working rights.

- Capacity to pass a pre-employment medical.

Applicants may be considered where Blue Card or Ochre Card applications are in progress, but both clearances must be obtained before commencement.

What we are looking for

We are looking for two people who:

- Work well together.

- Communicate openly and respectfully.

- Share responsibilities fairly.

- Remain calm under pressure.

- Maintain strong professional boundaries.

- Are organised, practical and reliable.

- Can provide personal care respectfully.

- Are comfortable working with both adults and young people.

- Understand the importance of cultural safety.

- Can maintain accurate documentation.

- Are willing to travel and work flexibly.

- Take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming home.

Previous experience working together in residential care, disability support, aged care, boarding, youth work, foster care, community services or a similar setting will be highly regarded.

What AEAC provides

- Two linked full-time employment positions.

- Employer-provided residential accommodation.

- Utilities and reasonable household operating costs.

- Competitive remuneration.

- Superannuation.

- Paid leave entitlements.

- Varied work across respite, disability, aged care and boarding services.

- Training and professional development.

- Organisational support and relief arrangements.

- The opportunity to make a direct difference in the lives of Aboriginal children, adults, families and Elders.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted jointly and include:

1. A current resume for each applicant.

2. A joint cover letter of no more than four pages that:

- Explains why you are applying together.

- Describes your experience living or working together.
